From disaster recovery in Lāhainā to flood relief on O'ahu, we organize everyday people to protect Hawai'i's communities, environment, and future — together.
Our islands have been hit by yet another terrible disaster, with West Maui, Molokaʻi North Oʻahu, and other rural areas across Oʻahu taking the majority of the brunt, and the rain and flooding still ongoing. After the first week of flooding, our Lāhainā Strong team sprung into action to deploy emergency response to impacted households and communities across Maui, supporting repairs and taking immediate action to deploy against flooding. Then, when the worst of the storm came to Waialua, our Oʻahu team sprung into emergency response deploying volunteers, resources, and supplies, to support impacted ʻohana with emergency needs in high impact areas on the North Shore and West Oʻahu.
The Our Hawaiʻi Foundation was literally created for moments like this. Formed after Our Hawaiʻiʻs response to the 2023 Lāhainā wildfires, The Our Hawaiʻi Foundation expands our movementʻs charitable capacity for communities in need. We have been continuing to support long-term recovery efforts in Maui which have enabled a swift community response, and now, our organizers and infrastructure are able to deploy across Maui, Molokaʻi and Oʻahu to meet this moment, supporting on the ground community leaders with proven mutual aid and organizing resources and direct supplies.
Any contribution large or small supports our efforts to provide relief to families in need. Donations will go towards supplies that can help with water diversion and home repairs, immediate supplies like potable water and replacement for damaged goods, labor and contracting with relief experts, and more.
Support Our Flood Response →The Our Hawai'i Foundation inspires community support to achieve economic, environmental, and social justice for local working families in Hawai'i across race, class, gender, and geography.
Established after the devastating 2023 Lāhainā wildfires, we work at the intersection of direct community services, grassroots organizing, public education, and applied research to build lasting resilience and agency for the people of Hawai'i. From fire-impacted West Maui to the economic struggles of Urban Oʻahu, we meet people where they are and support them in shaping the future they deserve.
Since the devastating August 2023 fires, we've been on the ground in West Maui — not just providing relief, but building the infrastructure for long-term community-led recovery. Through our grassroots initiative Lāhainā Strong, we ensure that the people most impacted drive the decisions that shape their future.
Every pillar reinforces the others — direct services meet urgent needs, while organizing and education build the lasting change to prevent those needs from recurring.
Disaster response, direct aid, environmental restoration, wellness programs, and economic empowerment for working families.
Empowering everyday people to organize their neighbors and networks toward economic, environmental, and social justice across the islands.
Developing leadership in arts, entertainment, ethnic, and religious centers — because cultural power is the foundation of lasting change.
Producing media and educational materials that build public awareness and motivate action in support of Hawai'i's working families and environment.
Polling and research that give voice to working families and inform evidence-based strategies for economic, environmental, and social wellbeing.
Building an informed, active citizenry through voter registration and education that participates in democracy and holds leaders accountable to Hawai'i's communities.
The Our Hawai'i Foundation was formed in the wake of the 2023 Lāhainā wildfires, when our movement recognized the urgent need for a charitable arm to sustain long-term disaster recovery and community building work.
